Shelia Rushmore thought she’d be the last woman standing when it was time to fight for her man. Instead Ace, her boyfriend of two years, chose to reunite with his ex-wife, leaving Shelia emotionally devastated. It’s a year later when Sheila is convinced that sneaking into their wedding ceremony will put closure on the gaping hole in her heart.
But it’s on the back pew of the church where a new relationship begins for Shelia. She can’t explain the touch she received from God on that day, but she’s determined to be a better woman-a woman of faith. Since high school, Shelia has been chasing her definition of the good life – it’s left her with no home, no man, and no money. But now that’s she’s living life for God, things should get better, right? Shelia learns that living a faith-filled life isn’t always easy.
With faith, tough love, and some tough decisions, Shelia realizes that the life she’d been praying for she could have for herself is actually attainable. Being wrapped in God’s arms, she decided, was by far the safest place she’d ever been.

REVIEW
Sheila Rushmore decides to attend her ex-boyfriend’s wedding for closure. Instead of an ending, she finds a new beginning by inviting Christ into her life. She’s overjoyed at finding the peace she’s been searching for all her life, and just knows everything will be all right from now on.
Unfortunately, she finds herself in a downward spiral. Instead of everything going right, she finds challenges on every hand, from losing her job to losing her apartment to a plethora of people who seem to be in her life just to bring her lower.
She finds an unlikely ally and a church family who help her to seek God and by doing so, to find out who He has created her to be.
Steppin’ Into The Good Life teaches us that the choices we make direct our lives, and that it’s not always easy to walk where God directs.

What
made you want to be part of Home Again?
I received an invitation from the publisher to submit a short story. I
was very excited when I received the notification e-mail and contract to
officially come aboard.
Tell me about your story –
Confidential Relations is a story encompassing the familial issue of
illegitimacy, as well as the emotional turmoil suffered by parent and child due
to the same. Readers will learn what transpires with the Dillard family
after a family secret is revealed. After the revelation, each member of
the Dillard family faces an emotional struggle, and with varying levels of
faith, each must realize that only God has the answers. Confidential
Relations emphasizes the importance of communication, and the virtues of truth
and honesty in relationships.
Where did you get the idea for your
story?
The idea for Confidential Relations originally stemmed from a conversation with
a family member about what a blessing it is to have a wonderful support system
- a family, no matter the mix. Children who have parents that
love and care for them are truly blessed – whether it's an adoptive parent, a step-parent, or any other adult
serving in a parental role, including grandparents, aunts or uncles.
Confidential Relations also addresses some of the emotional issues from the
orphaned, adoptive or foster-child's perspective.
Is this your first published work?
Yes
What are you working on now? I am
working on wrapping things up for the Dillard family. When will it release? I can't say
for certain but I would love for it to be some time in 2011.

WHAT
MADE YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF HOME AGAIN?
I think this book is the absolute best
way to introduce myself as a new author because the theme behind the entire
book; stories of restored relationships, is something I will forever stand for
and press toward in my professional life and in my ministry. Restoration!
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR STORY
The story I've written is about a Married Christian woman who
struggles to believe her husband truly loves her due to his suspicious actions.
Failing to trust her heavenly father, she takes matters into her own hands, but
will her hands prove capable of handling her out of control lifestyle,
or will she finally run back to the hand of GOD to save her marriage?
WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA FOR YOUR
STORY?
My husband and I have personally struggled with feelings of doubt,
insecurities, and rejection within our marriage. After overcoming great
obstacles and finding fabulous love again, We vowed to dedicate our gifts to
the ministry of marriage. My story represents the lives of so many women I've
encountered in friendships and ministry.
IS THIS YOUR FIRST PUBLISHED WORK? IF
NOT, WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU PUBLISHED?
This is my first published work!
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW? WHEN WILL
IT RELEASE?
I'm completing the full novel of uncovered which has unbelievable
twists and turns that are not in the short story. I'm also working on a youth
novel titled, T.J for President which follows an African American 10
year old boy as he discovers his purpose in life through a prison ministry. The
proceeds for this book will go toward Christian Library International
where I serve as a letter minister and prayer chaplain to the prison
ministries. My goal is to release them both in 2011. finally, I'm excited to announce
the release of my first music project that will release along with the HOME
AGAIN book. Home Again, the song, is a beautiful accompaniment to the stories
in Wanda.B. Campbell's anthology.

What made you want to be part of Home Again?
I happened to experience quite a bit
of turmoil over the past year. Writing this short story was a stepping stone
for me to move past my own pain. I can't say that in my situation there
was restoration as I envisioned, but I believe God restored me to be ready for
what's next. I'm honored to be part of an anthology that shows the variety of
ways God can repair brokenness. It's through restoration that individuals can
move forward and be vessels for God's purpose.
Tell me about your story.
Meet a wife and mother, EUGEENA PATTERSON, who has always been the glue keeping her fragmented family together. When her troubled teenage daughter is rushed to the hospital, Eugeena is forced to acknowledge the animosity and resentment that has lived under the surface far too long.
Where did you get the idea for your story?
The idea for Birthing Pains was inspired by the backstory of one of my manuscripts. I have a cozy mystery in which my short story character, Eugeena Patterson, becomes a reluctant amateur sleuth. The short story events take place about four years before the story in the manuscript.
Is this your first published work? If not, what else have you published?
Yes, this is my first time publishing a fictional piece.
What are you working on now? When will it release?
I'm currently working on two manuscripts. I'm making additions to one manuscript to see if it appeals more to a publisher who requested it earlier this year. I'm also getting ready to do a final edit on the other one. I prayerfully hope to share good news in 2011. :)
